This course aims to explore some of the key approaches to structuring an accessible dance class within different settings. You will have the opportunity to explore creative ideas with the lecturer in-studio and to investigate as a group how to stimulate learning for children and create structured pieces of work within safe environments.

- How to identify resources/ideas that are inclusive and engaging and be able to step out confidently from a syllabus
- How to use movement concepts through dance
- How to plan and structure
- How to enable children to explore with independence whilst working within a structured and safe environment
- Strategies for a productive effective lesson.
The course forms part of a series of sessions, taking place during our Online Summer Programme, focused on upskilling teachers to reach new audiences in the local community and beyond.
Anna began her dance career training at a local dance school in Doncaster and began her professional career working as a commercial dancer/choreographer for fashion shows, and a dance tutor before founding Hype Dance Company, a dance education company in Sheffield in 2004.
Anna has worked with many dance companies delivering educational work including Decadance Theater (USA), Renegade Dance Theatre (Germany), and for the last 13 years with The Royal Ballet School (UK).
She teaches regularly within Hype Dance Company’s Academy in Sheffield. Her teaching work ranges from creative dance, choreography, teacher training/mentoring with professional dancers, and work with professional ice skaters from the British Squad.
She is a registered teacher with the Council for Dance, Drama and Musical Training, is an assessor for The Royal Academy of Dance on their practical dance teacher training module, a lecturer for the ISTD and a TDCI festival adjudicator.
Anna has been the recipient of Arts Council England Funding, a Lisa Ullman Dance travel scholarship and a finalist in the Grazia/O2 female Entrepreneur of the year.
Location: This course is taking place in-studio. Therefore, please make sure that you take note of the location of the course. Live in-studio courses will not be available via online streaming; so please do not book these sessions unless you are able to attend in person.
