Revised Advanced 1 Modern Syllabus Revisions
There have been two revisions to the syllabus with immediate effect.
The Performance Sequence of Turns
On count 8 of the 6th bar it should now read: Relevé L, on high DP and fondu, punch kick R, maintaining arms, recover body to spiral and high release and hold (R leg in attitude). The very last movements of the sequence (bars 9 and 10) are now taken with more time; however the movement has not been changed:
•&1 Ball change L, R into jazz tendu on R leg, maintain body alignment adding a spiral to the R, stretching arms to high V
•2–3 Maintaining high release and plié, transfer the weight to jazz 2nd facing the front, arms opening to 2nd PU
•4 Maintaining high release, spiral to L and ripple body down over the L leg, R leg inverts on the DP
•5 R lower arm makes an inward horizontal circle with a sudden contraction in the lower abdominals, finishing with back of R wrist on back of R ankle
•Hold and then exit in the style of the sequence.
The Commercial Amalgamation
This has been reduced in length from 32 bars to 24 bars. For the teachers who have already learnt this amalgamation, the following cuts will need to be made, however there has been no change to the movement material.
Bars 17, 18, 23, 24, 27, 28, 29 and 30 are now cut. However, it might be easier to look at the following:
•The first 16 bars are as printed in the syllabus notes. The following 8 bars follow on from that.
•B1 for male adaptation for the next 4 counts see end of notes
•1 Step L to 2nd, interlocking fingers in front of chest, hand ripple L wrist down, bend knees, torso ripples in response

•&1&2&3&4 4 spring heels, RL, LR, etc, onto a straight supporting leg, 3 facing R side and the 4th facing the back arms – on first 2 spring heels arms are in jazz 3rd in opposition to feet with bent front arm folded across chest, slight lean back, on 3rd and 4th click down towards feet with both hands
•5& Ball change sideways to ll 2nd R,L travelling to RDB, body facing LDB
•6& Slap both thighs outwards then bring hands round to clap in front
•7& Tap L toe across behind R foot, slightly turned out, tap L toe to side, turned in, arms lifted to an easy side opposition
•8 Step L across R, turned out
•1,2,3,4 Facing SL, pad R foot sideways to front twice, then L foot sideways to back, then R to front again, arms inverted 1st, head looks front, back, front, chest pushes forwards with each step
•5,6 Facing SL, step forward L, front kick (bent or straight) R, supporting leg is bent and on a rise, arms swing to opposition with body turn to front, L arm straight with hand holding R leg, body in contraction, head and eye line to ceiling
