Wales and West Cecchetti Awards
14 June 2013
With another year passed by, it was all go again for the Wales and West Cecchetti Awards at the Congress Theatre in Cwmbran. Eager dancers arrived from far and wide to demonstrate their prepared set exercises and a dance
It was our great pleasure to have Paris Helen Brownie-Notley as our adjudicator for the day. Miss Paris made the dancers feel special in her usual charming manner and made some very helpful comments to the dancers, also impressed with their grooming when delivering her adjudication. Miss Paris commented on the Juniors that, when preparing for an exercise, they should always anticipate the preparation so as not to miss the beginning of the music. Of the Middles, she stated the importance of spatial awareness; and for the Seniors, that they should give their top half a look of ease with all movement, while their bottom half was working strongly as the ‘engine room’.
Carol Goode presented the Junior work; Kathryn Lawrence, the Middle work; and Jacqui Everson, the Senior work. Penny Hughes proved yet again to be a superb pianist, with her flair and expertise inspiring the competitors. Lunch was prepared by Linda Uruttia, which was greatly appreciated by all.
Flowers were presented to Miss Paris and Penny Hughes. The audience was very appreciative and made for a most relaxed and happy occasion.
