ISTD Teachers’ Residential Summer School
11 November 2017
This year’s successful summer school at Guildford School of Acting
The 12 day residential summer school at Guildford School of Acting received enthusiastic support with 302 teachers attending a total of 67 courses run by a team of 25 lecturers. Courses were facilitated by our Tap, Modern Theatre, Imperial Ballet, Classical Indian and National faculties with guest workshops from the English National Ballet, Liz Foster, and One Dance UK. Each of the weeks began with a welcome evening where delegates had the opportunity to meet ISTD staff, committee members and lecturers.
The response to the re-introduction of a residential event was overwhelmingly enthusiastic from teachers, most notably that it allowed them to socialise with ISTD teachers from the UK and around the world, forming new friendships and professional connections. It was especially pleasing to see so many International teachers attending from countries such as Canada, Japan, South Africa and Mexico.
All courses received excellent feedback, with much praise for the lecturers’ comprehensive knowledge, inspirational teaching and attention to detail

There was also a range of free morning and evening activities for residential delegates such as Pilates, tap jams, ballet conditioning and jazz warm-ups which proved very popular. In addition there were opportunities to discuss the new Advanced 1 and 2 Analysis exams, DANCE-TEACHERS.org and the Professional Standards scheme with ISTD staff.
