Cara Drower MA FISTD trained in the Cecchetti Method at the University of Cape Town with Dulcie Howes and David Poole, and at the Arts Educational Schools, both Tring and London, with Eve Pettinger. Having pursued a dancing career in Europe, she returned to the Arts Educational School Tring as Head of Dance for 18 years, and, subsequently, taught the Cecchetti work on the Teacher’s Course at the Royal Ballet School.
Her teaching experience encompasses work with recreational students and University lecturing (Roehampton). As a committee member (1987 - 2002) and Director of the Cecchetti Centre (1993 - 2002), she organised courses for students and teachers of the Cecchetti Method. Cara successfully completed a Masters Degree in Ballet Studies at Roehampton University in 1999, was awarded the Cecchetti Gold Medal for service to the Cecchetti Society in England in 2003, and made an Honorary Member of the Cecchetti Council of America in 2005. She currently trains Cecchetti teachers from DDI to the level of Masters, and examines extensively for the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, both in this country and abroad.
