Elisabeth undertook her early training at the Weston School of Dancing in Essex of which she became Principal in 1988, and which she owns in partnership with her husband, Geoff Wheatley. She trained for two years at White Lodge, receiving tuition from Nora Roche, and went on to study with Helen Wolska, Nesta Brooking, Victoria Chappell, Eileen Langman, Mary-Jane Duckworth and Gillian Dawson. She danced extensively throughout the UK, appearing on television and film, and holds the Enrico Cecchetti Diploma.
She has taught and choreographed for the Cecchetti Society Scholars and in 1995 was awarded the Margaret Marsh Scholarship to attend the annual Summer Seminar of the Cecchetti Council of America in Michigan, USA. She was a Lecturer in Dance at Harlow College, Essex for several years and, for eighteen years, directed the Chelmsford Ballet Company, of which she is a Vice-President. She is a Senior Examiner for the ISTD and, as well as Chairman of the Cecchetti Society Classical Ballet Faculty committee, is the Financial Administrator of the Cecchetti Centre in London and Co-ordinator of all three UK Cecchetti Summer Schools. She was the Organiser of the annual Cecchetti International Summer School for Teachers for many years and is a UK representative for Cecchetti International Classical Ballet. In 2011 Elisabeth was the recipient of Theatre Faculties Imperial Award for outstanding services to the ISTD.
