The Society is a registered educational charity (250397), regulated examinations board, and membership association. With 6000 members in 59 countries worldwide, we conduct over 120,000 examinations and 20,000 hours of Continuing Professional Development each year.
Summary of the Role
The ISTD is looking for maternity cover for the Italian-speaking International Examinations Officer. This is a 6-month full-time, fixed-term role starting from August with the opportunity to potentially extend.
The role will deliver a broad range of professional and efficient administrative services, supporting dance examinations conducted outside the United Kingdom, both online and in-person.
As part of a collaborative team, the focus of this role is to manage the planning, organisation, and coordination of remote dance examinations, as well as arrange international tours for in-person assessments. Key responsibilities include liaising regularly with examiners and international members, providing essential support, guidance, and training on ISTD internal systems.
This position reports directly to the Head of International Examinations.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, research and analyse information on the needs of allocated countries, and plan the exam periods accordingly.
- Manage the examination process from application to delivery, ensuring adherence to company policies and syllabus requirements.
- Verify membership status, candidate eligibility and system details within deadlines.
- Manage examiner allocation and international travel arrangements for in-person assessments.
- Maintain accurate records, monitor income/expenditure, and ensure tours are cost-effective.
- Provide multilingual support for examiners and international members across time zones.
- Participate in phone rota for customer enquiries and escalate issues when needed.
- Contribute to members’ meetings and presentations, including material translation.
- Collaborate with internal departments and support additional tasks as needed.
Person Specification
The successful candidate must demonstrate:
- Commitment to fairness, inclusion, and the Society’s mission.
- Strong communication skills in English and native-level Italian.
- Experience in high-volume, fast-paced admin roles.
- Outstanding organisational, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
- Financial awareness and cost-optimisation skills.
- Excellent teamwork and customer service mindset.
- Solid IT skills, especially in Microsoft Office, Teams, Zoom and other platforms.
- Respect for confidentiality and GDPR requirements.
Desirable:
- Degree-level education or equivalent.
- Additional languages (e.g., Greek, Spanish, Japanese).
- Experience in travel/event management or dance/arts sectors.
- Knowledge of dance education and the broader arts environment.
Working Hours
This is a full-time role, working 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm with a one-hour lunch break.
Some weekend availability may be required on a rota basis to cover emergency phone duties (with notice).
Hybrid Work: 40% in-office (Tuesday–Thursday) and the remainder remote, subject to ongoing review.
