Cecchetti Scholars Programme
Unlocking Potential Through Specialist Cecchetti Training
Unlocking Potential Through Specialist Cecchetti Training
The Cecchetti Scholars Programme is a funded scheme run by the ISTD and supported by the Cecchetti Society Trust. It enables young people to access specialist weekly Cecchetti training that enhances and supports their ongoing dance development.
The programme is designed for dedicated students who are considering a career in dance.
To supplement students’ existing training with focused vocational preparation, helping them reach their full artistic and technical potential.
Scholars receive weekly tuition in Cecchetti Classical Ballet, body conditioning and pointework, alongside opportunities to explore choreography and repertoire. Contemporary training is also offered, though this element is not directly funded by the scheme.
Specialist ISTD teachers with significant industry experience deliver high‑quality training that prepares dancers for vocational pathways.
Scholars work with a diverse range of industry professionals and take part in creative processes, building choreography and performing as part of a supportive, company‑style environment.
Applicants must:
Candidates take part in a Cecchetti ballet class assessed by a small panel of adjudicators. Decisions are not given on the day; candidates receive outcomes by email.

Many former Scholars progress into vocational training and go on to successful professional dance careers.
The Cecchetti Scholars Programme was my first real taste of doing higher level work outside of my local dance school. I felt such a buzz coming into London on Saturdays to go to my Scholars classes. The classes fuelled my love of dancing and encouraged me to go on to train at vocational school. The extra training I received at Scholars made sure I was in a good place for auditions. Coming back 15 years later to choreograph for the Cecchetti Scholars Programme was such a joy - a very special full circle moment.
