The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) is a registered educational charity and membership association. Our mission is to educate the public in the art of dancing in all its forms: to promote knowledge of dance; provide up-to-date techniques for members and maintain and improve teaching standards.

Summary of the Role

We are looking for an aspirational individual who firmly believes in the values and aims of the organisation. 

The Financial Controller will be responsible for ensuring that all ISTD’s financial records are accurately maintained with the strong internal controls in place. Excellent communication skills are a must, and the Financial Controller should be able to effectively partner with a wide-range of senior financial and non-financial stakeholders.

This role will report directly to the Director of Finance and Operations.

Main Purpose of the Role

In addition to working closely with the Director of Finance and Operations, to assist as and when required, the Financial Controller will also be responsible for the following areas:

• Ensure all the ledgers are accurately maintained and all balance sheet accounts are reconciled in a timely manner.
• Provide accurate and timely cash flow reporting.
• Responsible for administering the bank and credit card accounts ensuring all bank related records are maintained, as required.
• Monitor and maintain the finance timetable.
• Work closely with the Finance Business Partner to produce monthly management accounts and other information, as required.
• Produce the statutory accounts and lead the annual audit.
• Play a part in helping to develop the finance system; ensuring it is fit for purpose and processes are streamlined and effective.
• Manage, coach and develop the Financial Control team (currently two Finance Officers).
