The 2026 New Year Honours list celebrates the remarkable achievements of dance professionals recognising their unwavering commitment to the art form

OBE Recipients

Cassa Pancho OBE – Founder and Artistic Director of Ballet Black, honoured for her outstanding services to ballet. Pancho has been a trailblazer in championing diversity in classical ballet, creating opportunities for dancers of Black and Asian heritage. Her work has transformed the landscape of British ballet, inspiring countless artists and audiences alike.

Anna du Boisson OBE – International teacher for over 40 years and former rehearsal director at Ballet Rambert, recognised for her lifelong commitment to dance education and performance.

MBE Recipients

Louise Richards MBE – Co-Founder and Executive Director of Motionhouse, celebrated for her innovative approach to dance and theatre.

Balbir Singh MBE – Artistic Director of Balbir Singh Dance Company, honoured for his unique fusion of contemporary and traditional dance forms.

BEM Recipients

Carmel Pauline Garvey BEM – Artist in Residence for ArtsCare, acknowledged for her services to dance in Tyrone, Northern Ireland.

Wendy Latty BEM – Principal of Alison School of Dance, recognised for her dedication to dance education.

Alison Milne BEM – Former Principal of Alison Gordon School of Dance, honoured for her contribution to Highland Dancing.

Lloyd Thompson BEM – Celebrated for his work with young people and the community in Bradford through Hip Hop and dance.

These honours highlight the breadth of talent and commitment within the dance sector, from classical ballet to contemporary and community dance. At ISTD, we celebrate their success as part of the wider dance industry and applaud the positive impact they continue to make in inspiring future generations.
