The Faculty committees provide a two-way channel for communication and consultation with the wider membership body. Each dance faculty committee is elected by the eligible full-teaching and life members of the ISTD.

Role of Faculty Committee members

Faculty Committee members generously contribute their time and expertise on a voluntary basis. They participate in:

  • Regular meetings within their specific genre
  • Cross-genre working group discussions

Collaboration and influence

In partnership with the Head of Theatre Qualifications or the Head of Dancesport Qualifications, the committees:

  • Play a key role in shaping the development of qualifications
  • Represent the insights and professional perspectives of its members
  • Advise on a broad range of faculty initiatives relevant to their genre
  • Respond to the evolving needs of both teachers and students

Why join a Faculty Committee?

Serving on a Faculty Committee is a rewarding opportunity to:

  • Make a meaningful impact
  • Support the continued growth and excellence of the faculty

We will be happy to connect you with a current committee member for an informal conversation.

Faculty Committee elections are open for applications for the following Faculties:

  • Imperial Classical Ballet
  • Classical Indian Dance

If you are interested in standing for election, please contact governance@istd.org for more information.

Testimonial

It’s a true honour to be voted onto the National committee and to serve as the member’s voice. As a committee we must respect the past, concentrate on the present by listening and supporting and herald the future!
