Course overview

Endorsed by Safe in Dance International (SIDI), the Preparing for Safe Teaching Practice Unit of the DDE introduces you to the fundamental principles of safe dance practice and essential information necessary for maintaining professional conduct and ensuring safety for all.

At the ISTD Academy, you have the flexibility to access this individual unit of study delivered intensively over 18 weeks, combining interactive online modules with engaging live lectures and tutorials. Whether you're starting your teacher training journey or building upon existing knowledge, this is the place to explore the DDE qualification and dive into the specifics of Unit 1. The assessment framework ensures student teachers develop practical skills and knowledge essential for entering the teaching profession and building a sustainable career. 

 

Course dates

 
Unit 1: Preparing for Safe Teaching  
  • Start Date: Thursday 12 September 2024
  • End Date: Thursday 23 January 2025
Online live lectures:
  • Delivered every other week on Thursday evenings from 19.00-21.00 (UK Time).
 

Entry requirements

  • Age 17+ 
  • Some experience of being within a teaching environment or a desire to follow a teaching pathway 
  • GSCE English (or equivalent) at Level 4/C or above (or equivalent) 
  • Students for whom English is a second language are expected to hold an IELTS at Level 6
