Welcome to this year’s Ruby Ginner Awards 2024.
The Classical Greek Faculty is delighted to announce the return of the Ruby Ginner Awards 2024. We look forward to welcoming all competitors to this day showcasing the best of Classical Greek. Each category will consist of an onstage class performed in front of the audience and presentation of the awards will take place after each class.

Competition details
The Classical Greek Faculty is delighted to announce the return of the Ruby Ginner Awards 2024, taking place on Sunday 3 November at The Venue MK, in Milton Keynes.
Class format
- Candidates will be taught a technique class based around and incorporating the graded set sequences.
- Each class will be taught and adjudicated separately however classes will be combined if necessary.
- Three different sequences will be used each year either in their entirety or as a base for further creative development on the day.
- The chosen sequences, clearly stated in the entry criteria will be of the same grade required for entry to the class.
- Nature Rhythm and Musical Interpretation will be incorporated into the class.
- Performance of some sequences may be taken in smaller groups (as a solo in Class F)
- An official pianist will play throughout.

Awards
Competitors will be adjudicated for the following awards, with the adjudication taking place throughout the whole class. Prize giving will take place at the end of each class section:
- Class Award
- Special Award - Musicality
- Special Award - Performance
- Special Award - Joy of Dance
All competitors will receive a participation certificate with Highly Commended and Commended also to be given.
Ticket Information
Bookings will open Thursday 20 June 2024.
Use code EARLYBIRD for 20% competitor bookings until Thursday 18 July 2024. Subject to capacity, not valid on audience tickets.
Competitor tickets will close on Friday 4 October 2024.

Entry Criteria and rules
Candidates MUST enter classes according to the certificate they hold at the closing date, despite working at a higher level (see conditions of entry below).

Dress code
Uniform as per examination guidelines should be worn. This is either:
- Tunics cut to the regulation pattern just above knee length. Skin-colour footless tights are permitted or
- T-shirt with shorts or footless tights or all-in-one leotard.
Competitors should have bare feet and have hair in a tidy style away from the face.
Additional information
- Anyone in full-time training is NOT permitted to enter this competition.
- Candidates who have won an award are NOT permitted to enter the same level class the following year.

Terms and conditions
- All entries to be submitted by the teacher and not by the parents/guardian.
- Teachers and competitors shall agree to abide by ALL the rules laid down for the Competition and shall accept the Adjudicator's decision as final. No individual feedback will be given.
- Anyone competing in this event does so at their own risk and parents/carers will be asked to confirm their child is fit to participate. The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing will not accept any responsibility for any injury.
- Principals & Teachers – Please ensure all teachers involved in preparing pupils for the competition, are fully aware of and understand the competition rules.
- By entering the competition, the competitor confirms they are eligible to enter.
Cancellation Policy
- We regret that no refunds are payable once tickets are purchased and payment received.
- However, in the event that the ISTD cancel the event, a full refund will be processed.

- Please observe professional courtesy and if any teacher has concerns that need to be raised during the competition day, please email classicalgreek@istd.org
- Any complaint regarding eligibility for this competition must be submitted to the Head of Faculty Development in writing to classicalgreek@istd.org to be dealt with in the appropriate manner.
- The integrity of the teacher is relied upon to ensure that the behaviour and conduct of their competitors on the day of the heats and finals are professional and do not disturb the enjoyment of others and the smooth running of the event.
